Recent Conversations

The best part of this age are our conversations.  E always says funny and silly things...and even if he is serious it just sounds really cute coming out of his mouth.  Some recent conversations:

Daddy: Daddy loves you
Ethan: Yes you do, and also Cassidy too.  (A classmate at school)
D: How do you know she loves you?
E: Because that's just the way it is.


Today on the way home from school, E plops on a nearby bench.

Ethan:  Oomph.  I need to take a rest.
Mommy:  Are you tired?  What did you do in school today.
E:  I had a long hard day at school.
M:  Really, doing what?
E: I collected a lot of treasures, and afterwards I said 'Wow, that was hard work'.  So now I need to take a rest.

Happy V-Day!

We made some cookies for school.  Ethan is quite the baker these days - he loves mixing and rolling out the dough.  He did want to keep squashing the heart together after cutting them though.  Boys.

We were going to go out to have a fancy (family!) dinner tonight, but surprisingly everything was super booked even at 4:30 (love the no nap days!) so we had yummy take out instead (thanks babes!).

Ethan's Greatist Hits

Nap time is pretty much hit or miss these days.  I'm still being delusional and holding out hope that this is just a phase and that he starts regularly napping again like he did this exact same time last year - a month long strike against naps and then suddenly they were back.

E:  "I just want to go home.  Home makes me happy. (pause).  Also Ikea.  Ikea makes me happy too."

E:  I want to work like Daddy and sit in a big big office and eat chocolate.

E:  What does this song mean?  Why does it hurt?
M: She says that she doesn't want hear what the person is saying because it might hurt her feelings.
E:  Does your feelings hurt?
M:  No, because you only say nice things. 
E:  Um, maybe it's because you don't hear me.  If you hear me then your feelings might get hurt.
M: Do you say mean things?
E:  No, but you should still try to hear me.

The Little Scallion That Could

We started growing some scallions over Christmas. I do not have a green thumb at all, but even I couldn't mess this up. Just place the white portion of the scallion with the roots in a cup of water and place in a sunny spot. Viola!
