Kota Kinabalu

We had a wonderful time on our vacation in Malaysia. It was very relaxing...we basically stayed at the resort the whole time so lots of lounging at the beach and playing in the pool. Oh and eating. We did a lot of eating. I have to say that while I'm not exactly a beach person...before we had Ethan Bob and I would never think to go to a beach resort for vacation as we would much rather do something more active, but it was nice to just do something relaxing as a family for a few days. The weather was fantastic - it was warm (but not too hot) and not humid at all. I used to think San Diego would be the perfect place to live weather wise, but have to say Malaysia has fantastic year round weather also.

Ethan checking out our hotel room.

The first thing we did was head to the beach.

Ethan was a bit scared of the incoming waves but still liked to get his feet wet.

Of course we had to bury Ethan in the nice soft sand.

We got to meet 4 baby orangutans. And also got to see lots of fish, turtles, and chickens on the hike up to the orangutan feeding platform.

Ethan's first glimpse of the orangutans.

Later that day we got to meet Bonzo the Orangutan.

Bob and Ethan checking out the old fashioned foot washing station.

There were banana trees all around the resort...

Which yielded the cutest smallest bananas perfect for baby sized hands.

Ethan had lots of fun and didn't want to leave!

Fooling around at the airport on the way back home.

  1. Aww it looks like you guys had so much fun! So funny, I just bought that exact UV protection shirt from target this weekend. With the shark/fish thing on the sleeve. Is that where you got it or is HK selling the same thing!?

    Miss ya!

  2. Miss you guys too! Yes, it was a Circo swim shirt/trunks from Target - we actually bought it before we left and I can't believe it still fits him. I can't wait to see more pics of the cute twins!

  3. Heehee, that's so funny you buried Ethan in the sand! I love how you are talking to him and trying to get him to find his feet until finally he sees his toe and finds it! :) Did he like meeting Bonzo or was he scared?
